There are an estimated 30,000 blacks who live in the South American country of Bolivia. Recently, they named Julio Pinedo as their king. They hope that this move will bring greater recognition in a deeply racist country.
Most of the Afro-Bolivians live in the Yungas region of Bolivia and- like blacks in the United States- were brought to Bolivia as slaves.
