One thing joe bro is - a racist! You listen because you long for answers. Be careful what you receive. Joe's motivation appears to be anger based and focused only on attack directed at those who think different. Joe may be well educated (I guess based what he says) but he does not appear to be with great wisdom.
P.S. I am 25 days without listening to Joe. Responding via the forum is much more enlightening!
It simply means that his education or what he has read or been taught is greater than his ability to understand or even comprehend the information enough to try and expound on it much less explain it or it's meaning/relevance with a reasonable amount of reason to his audience.
(his ego exceeds his worth) His ego is bloated and his self importance beyond belief. He talks a good game but does nothing and offers nothing of value to his listeners or his community other than a pity fest of entertainment for victim hood mentalities. He is in constant contradiction to himself and accepts no other reasoning that differs from his own or anything that isn't complementary to it while preaching otherwise. One of my favorites is his trade mark ranting and blaming "white America" for everything and following it with the occasional " when I say white America I am just generalizing y'all " Could we start generalizing the black community when demonizing something It's Black America's fault and offer the occasional we are just generalizing y'all disclaimer and not be seen as racists, or in the least divisive?
When I first heard Mr. Madison, I too thought he was somewhat rude and short with callers. I then listened to him more and more and I began to understand why he came off as he appears to with others.
Everyone has a different style. Good and bad. He gives explanations as to why he treats callers in certain matters. Then I will agree yes. I also understand some people do not liked to be challenged in a critical thinking manner.
I believe, in my opinion this is where this perception of being rude comes in. He will try to be logical. Then when he see that is not working he comes "rude." I call it no nonsense. I can respect that.
For the person who says he is not the same way with white callers, I will say you don't listen often. Have you heard the right-wingers who call in with some of the nonsense they try to espouse? They just think that Mr. Madison is of the same ilk that their are cut from. Non-thinking types that can not do their own research and think for themselves.
He goes off on them! Let's face it. Our most favorite persons have things we do not like about them. I don't care about Mr. Madison's generalizations of "youngins," but I understand where he is coming from in regard to the points he tries to make.
Joe Madison will never admit it. But he too is an entertainer. I see no problem with that. He has sponsors. They pay money because people . People listen, becasue they find his show entertaining. But his show is entertaing because the show is interesting. This formula is not rocket science. But he is also thought provoking, and rasies interesting and challenging points of view. Look, Meet the Press is of the same type. So is FOX News, CNN, Jack and Jill and NBC. They all share the same thing. They wrap interesting and valid issues into an entertainment format. About the only exception that I can think of is NPR. Sorry Joe. Love your show. But you is what you is and I know it and you know it and as Bob Dole once said - "the american people know it". But keep up the good work. I enjoy your show every morning. Some day I hope to call in.
A few months back I was a huge supporter of your program, but not so much anymore and I would like to tell you why.
I think you are very rude to your callers and listeners. Also, you hate to be interrupted, but you are notorious for cutting off or speaking over people. I will try to keep listening to you. Your program (not show or maybe it is just a show) is important to the community. I just dont know for how much longer I can put up with your attitude.
P.S I love your daughters program. I wish XM would put her back on regularly (and Im fifty something).
I could not agree with you more. Mr Madison will not admit it, but many times he goes over board. He will justify it by saying that morning talk show news is fast and that he has time limits, but Mr. Madison does comeoff as rude. One of my friends described him as a bull dog.
I agree with you. I still listen to the show, but I do think Mr. Madison is rude to the callers especially the truck drivers. It is just my opinon, but I think he would prefer that truckers did not call. When you listen to Ballintine or Sharpton they will not belittle the caller, even if they are not being logical. If they don't agree with them, they will politely say so and thank them for calling. Mr. Madison seems to take the high ground with the Black callers, as if to prove he is more logicial, educated and experienced then they, for which he may very well be. If you notice, he rarely takes this posture with white callers. I have many times been embarressed for Joe due to needlessly harsh engagements with Black callers. I can count on one hand the number of Black radio shows that offer the type of topic matter that the Madison Show offers, therefore as a concerned Black American, it is essential that I tune in daily. I have not and will not call the show, though I have wanted to do so many times. I hope Mr. Madison's ego is not causeing people to wait until his show is over to tune into The Power. Even if we don't like the messenger, the message is too important to ignore. p387

I think you are very rude to your callers and listeners. A few days ago you told a caller that he needed to follow the show; ok heres the problem; you never repeat the topic of the show. Many times people are getting into their cars or just waking up to turn you on and may not know the topic. Please sometime just repeat the topic every now and then so that late comers dont feel lost if we join you the middle of a topic.
Also, you hate to be interrupted, but you are notorious for cutting off or speaking over people. I was listening to your interview with your tax person one morning. You were discussing how a family sued to be able to deduct part of their childrens Catholic school tuition on their tax return. When you asked if it was legal, you spoke over him and we never heard his answer. This was information that I could have used and I thought that was the purpose of having him on. When you are on Lou Dobbs or CNN you give them the upmost respect when they speak. Give us poor old black folks the same respect.
Lastly, you need to be a little more patience with people. Everyone who calls in may not be as educated as you. But that does not mean that you have to undervalue, underestimate or marginalize other peoples opinions.Instead of trying to show off your intelligence why dont you help othersunderstand that right or wrong their opinions are still valued even if they are not professional speakers. I thought your program was a forum for all people to express their views. You often speak of being our teacher, but honestly if I was your student I would never raise my hand in class (or call you on the radio).
I will try to keep listening to you. Your program (not show or maybe it is just a show) is important to the community. I just dont know for how much longer I can put up with your attitude.
