I heard on your show this morning that a lady received an absentee ballot in the mail without asking for one.  I received one as well weeks ago in Arlington, VA.  I did not ask for one.  I am an African American male.  I didn't throw it away though.  As it turns out I do need to vote absentee because I just learned that I have to travel for work that voting week so I went down to the courthouse last Saturday to vote in person.  To be safe I brought the mailed absentee ballot with me so I didn't have a problem but I wonder what would have happened if I threw it away.  I wish I would have paid more attention but I remember several other people at the polls were not showing up on the rolls and being told they were not in the system and this was for absentee voting many weeks early.  I encourage all to call your precint or go down in person if possible to verify you are on the rolls.

But my main question is why did I get an absentee ballot via mail when I did not solicit it?  It wasn't a letter stating that this method was an option, it was the actual ballot.  To be fair, Arlington is a democratic county so maybe they were being proactive in making sure people get all options to vote.  But is this happening all across Virginia?  As the lady said on your show today, will people have problems showing up at the polls on election day, only to find out that they should have already voted because an absentee ballot was mailed to them?  I just want some clarity.
