Mr. Barack Obama wants to pay teachers $100,000.00 dollars per year. I don't know how he's going to sell that idea to a nation that's already hostile toward the NEA ?  The power of the idea is in it's potential to drain the best minds in the world (in teaching) toward the shores of the United States of America to come teach our children-- Braindrain from other nations. People might buy the idea if he suggest, for example, that the money would come from raising standards and doing so would wring out inefficiencies in the current system. Hold local taxes were they currently are now with moderate increases, if needed, from the federal government. If you have three teachers, for example, two are poor at their jobs and one is expert, the system of higher standards would eliminate the two and what they were paid would now go to the teacher who was expert at their job.
