Well, maybe we are in some agreement. What is for sure - I listen to Joe every morning. Have for years. Will continue. But in fact he is scared silly to admit that if the playing field is level - the most qualified ought to prevail. No, he does not agree with that. Oh....the playing field is never level if blacks don't prevail. And fair only means that blacks get an advantage - even if the playing field is even. Gimme, gimme, gimme. This is what is causes quiet white riots. Ya know what I mean. Let's just say - if you are the best qualified to put out my fire - then come on over. The rest of you stay home.
I am not sure what your point is. Here is my point. If my house is burning down I want people who know how to put out the fire. I don't care what race they are. I want the fire put out. How complicated is that? So there is this test. No blacks made the cut. So....the remedy is going to be ? What? Let us put together a test that black folks can pass? Screw knowledge and ability and performance? Just give jobs based on racial makeup of the city? Geez, how clueless can people get. This is before the court. I hope that common sense prevails. Joe does not have the guts to discuss this issue.
You just described my point actually. What I was referring too was that when we are supposed to be having this whole equality thing going here we consistently see affirmative action, social promotion, etc.. In this case they just chose to throw the whole deal out with the trash just because a black didn't make the grade. The fact that 15 people made the grade and had to lose their ability to receive a promotion because a black didn't cut it this time seeds contempt in many for blacks and makes them numb to the organizations that try to promote equality when they see equality isn't exactly equality for everyone.

"But the president of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund said the claim ignored the history of discrimination that excluded blacks from fire and police departments. In many cities, including New Haven, the "fire department was the preserve of white males," said John Payton, who is also counsel for the defense fund. "African Americans were virtually excluded." That's why cities across the country have fought discrimination lawsuits involving their fire departments, he said."
So despite the fact that in this case there wasn't a black person in the top 15 and there was only 15 available positions a black should get social promoted/ Affirmative action.. into the promotion?
Statements and actions like that also breed contempt.
I find that the way the media reports things, you seldom get the entire story. There usually are two sides to things. But this looks deporable. I am not sure if Mr. Madison has discussed this on his show, but he should. It is an insult to everyone, including African Americans.
