I agree. Between his mental issues and drinking Red Bull every morning, I think he is losing it and fast. He claims to have attended college, but he reads like a 7th grader. He talks down to all his callers (educated or not) and he considers himself to be the voice of "reason". In his mind the only opinion that counts is HIS. I once heard him admit that he does it all for 'entertainment"; well, Joe, if bringing down your own people is entertainment to you, you need to rethink your position. Then he wonders why he doesn't receive calls and dares folks to call him. I would NEVER call him to voice an opinion he obviously does not want to hear. That is just giving him fodder for his show. I honestly don't know how his wife puts up with it. He is an grumpy old man with low self-esteem who needs to have his mic taken away from him.
A friend asked me to listen to his show a while ago. As much as I've tried giving his program a chance, I too find him to be very rude and condescending to callers. He acts like a bully behind the mic. I'm sure if he were looking at someone of those called eye to eye he would have a different disposition.
Joe Madison is paid mightily to verbally abused his own people for the sake of ratings.
Because of his life long battle of not bieng accepted into the larger dominant culture, he developed a sense of low self-esteem, which has caused him to developed a perpetual anger that is now bubbling over. And because he has been immasculated, to the point he does not know how to directly confront those he truly dislikes, he takes it out on the very people who truly love and admire him: his own people.
I use to listen him, but I have turned him off. Lestening to this kind of filth is not good for the spirit.
The powers to be likes the format of the show, but it is at the expense of the black community.
Dr. King would have been too passive for Joe. He's rude, arrogant, illiterate, condescending, and combative. In short, he's the epitome of what's wrong with America. Inwould say that he's the white Rush Limbaugh, but at least Rush reads things other than what he agrees with.
Yep I agree with mostly everything here....glad to know I wasn't the only one. Listened to him for a while (10 years) but I think his ego has really gotten to him he constantly lashes out at callers, asks a question , and won't allow the person to answer and if they do it's not to his level of answering. For all the talk he does about Trump he's not to far away from him with his nasty attitude at times. I think he could easily be the leader in Black talk radio if he would learn to curb his tone towards callers who for the most part, pretty much agree with him on his topics. I'm finding myself having to go to Thom Hartmann ( most informative progressive voice on air), Mike Malloy, Karen Hunter (when she's on topic), and Mark Thompson (who is wonderful and has a huge heart) to get a fix of good solid adult conversation. I try to fit Joe in just for the first hour at 6am there's no way I could last 4 hours listening to him yell, curse , and put money into his curse jar for yelling at about 65% of people who really love his show and call in (it's gotten worse over time).
What he needs to realize is that people are looking to get someone of a start on being part of a movement and/or guidance when someone who is revered as him talks down to those same people it's pretty damning. I'm pretty sure when he started out as an activist he sought the same advice that others are seeking.
Who knows he may even cursed out the future Dr. King and discouraged him.....
I agree the context is good sometimes, but if you disagree with this guy is so rude and unprofessional. I am so tired of hearing him whining and bitching, that includes his sidekick the wife at pierces she's also afraid to speak up without his approval. Definitely need to change his attitude.
Disrespectful is more descriptive. I am not sure why he bothers to take calls from others at all. It is really just a monologue. It is almost like he is just a shell for President Obama. He spends so much time berating callers for the way they start the call off, even if they agree with him, almost bullying the people who do call him. Here lately , it seems that he has just gotten a bit too full of himself. I'll call him the Black EGO. I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that he has quite a bit of time in the mornings where there are no calls waiting. It's a national show, there should always be a queue of callers. What are his ratings like anyway? I can't imagine his style attracting all that many to be at the top nationally, but I have never researched.
I gave up on him yesterday, when he started in on Dr. Ben Carson as if he is not black enough. Regardless of Dr. Carson's politics, his faith, background, intelligence, and personal successes cannot be denied. He represents everything I want my black sons and daughter to be. Joe Madison is quick to tell callers that they do not have to listen to him. Yesterday, I decided to take his advice!
I couldn't agree with you more. Not only is he incapable of engaging in an objective discussion of topics, he resorts to insult of those who have the audacity to take a contrary point of view of his. What's so dishonest about it, is that he brags about `not screening his calls'. Moreover, if one manages to make a point well, he monopolizes the cal which follows that to berate the previous caller.
I have no doubt that each of us responding puts Anonymous because I can tell he is so petty'
I believe that his format is definitely a good thing but he is the most rude radio host on the air. His show is a wast of black talk radio. We already do not have enough black talk radio host and stations and if he stopped being an angry black radio host, he could definitely do more good. He insults, talks down to, interrupts and calls people names. The people that call his show are grown adults and he talks to them as though they are children. Calling his show is an invitation for abuse. I am going to send a letter to radio one and voice my concerns
He is absolutely unprofessional and he only welcomes callers who are on his side of things or support his views. It was interesting to hear him quote parts of the 1st ammendment and 14th to support the attempt to change the definition of marriage.....and on the other hand ignore the 2nd!
i am considering canceling my Sirius subscription....
